What personal data we collect and why we collect it

When you buy a product on this site, we ask for the name, company name(optional), address, e-mail, VAT number (if in EU) and country. The membership system also registers the IP address (internet protocol) as a measure to check whether country and IP address match.
Furthermore, we record which subscription you bought, the date and time and when it expires. This information is saved in the database on the server. This information is also kept in our paper accounts, excluding the subscription expire time and IP address. We are legally obliged to keep that information during 10 years after which it is destroyed.
All personal information collected by WP 21 century is treated as strictly confidential. We may disclose User's personal information if required by law.

We send from time to time a message to the e-mail address you provided when there is an important update related to your subscription. As this is part of the subscription, it is not possible to opt-out unless you wish to terminate the subscription (see also "What if I want you to erase all my information?" further below). The reason is that the video -and audio industry constantly changes, therefore we think it is important to update you if this may affect your project/business.
We don't send product offers or messages that are unrelated to your subscription nor do we send messages after your subscription is expired..
We keep your information in our database maximum 365 days after the expiring date of your subscription to give you the opportunity to renew your subscription with a significant discount.
After this period of grace, your data is erased and you will be treated as a new customer when you re-apply for a subscription.

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

All PayPal transactions, are subject to the PayPal Privacy Policy.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained 365 days after the last time you bought or renewed a subscription. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). The Website administrator can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. We use a double opt-in procedure to make sure nobody else tries to impersonate you. We expect you to use the same e-mail address we have on record.

You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where we send your data

Visitor comments are checked through an automated spam detection service.

How we protect your data

Our hosting provider is chosen for its high level of security measures and its insistence on safe practices on their servers, like using private keyfiles for SSH access and IP address restriction.
Apart from the server firewalls, we also have a firewall and antivirus on website level which blocks illegal intrusions. However, nothing is 100% secure on the Internet, therefore we cannot guarantee total safety.

What data breach procedures we have in place

When there is a data breach that involves leaking personal information, you are informed maximum 24 hours after discovery. However, one particular data breach can proceed undetected: when you have chosen a weak password for your user account or it was written down and easily accessible. You can help us avoid that data breach by making sure that your user password is strong and not easy to find.

What if I don't agree with this privacy policy?

In that case, please don't buy a subscription on this site.
